A VFX technician, an Italian currently working in London on the visual effects for The Golden Compass, has disclosed a few interesting bits of information on our discussion forums.
According to "Parsibal", whose revelations now appear extremely reliable - he'd said Kathy Bates would be voicing one of the daemons, a week before the Redefining Daemons video preview came out, thereby proving him right - Ian McKellen will not lend his voice to one of the daemons, but to Iorek Byrnison himself (who up until now was understood to be dubbed by British actor Nonso Anozie).
Our source also confirms one very odd rumour that has been circulating the Web for several weeks now: that Christopher Lee might appear in The Golden Compass, in a brief cameo. "Parsibal" writes: "[Lee] plays a member of the Magisterium: a grumpy man dressed in dark colours, whom we see sitting at a table with another character, whose daemon is a panther."
Apparently, the final scenes in the movie have been heavily reworked, changing most of the sequences set in Bolvangar; these changes were made at the request of the producers, not of the director. "Let's hope for the best," says our source. "As they re-edited the last few scenes, they cut some sequences and put in new ones; so, if we were running late with the VFX before, now we're running very, very late. VFX must be finished by the end of October, so we're going to have to work 24/7 from now on."
Thank you, Parsibal ! |
